As the current business manager and main tutor of Yap's Home Tuition, I have many years’ experience in tutoring field, particular on high school’s Mathematics and Science topic. Since the creation of Yap’s Home Tuition, I have changed my focus to university topic, tutoring mainly university student particularly in engineering field.
On the tutoring side, I will write my own tutoring notes and prepare my own tutorial questions for my student. My notes and questions aimed to help student understand the topic through extra explanation on the theorem as well as some real life example. For some topic, like Mathematics and Engineering Mechanics, I have also develop some tricks or strategy to approve questions more effective and solve the question with easier method.
Part of my work is to provide training to new tutor or those who interested to become a private tutor, to ensure that they have the capability to deliver what they have learnt. I will also train new tutor their presentation skill and provide support whenever needed.
I'm also previously a Peer Mentor in ECU School of Engineering, Peer Tutor in Kinross College and student ambassador of ECU Faculty of Computing, Health and Science. I’m also highly active in advocating for international student and provide them support should they need any help.
Before arriving in Perth, I have 3 years’ experience of tutoring Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics in Malaysia. This experience help me to build up my foundation in explaining topic to student as well as my presentation skill.
Outside the academic field, I'm the current National Treasurer of Council of International Students Australia (CISA), the official state representative, part of the Western Australia Team. I'm also the current Chair of the International Student Council in Edith Cowan University, the current committee member of Association of Malaysian in Western Australia and International Students Advisor in Association of Asian Culinary Professional (AACP). I’m also highly involved in Asian Century Business Forum and have been invited a few times as a speaker for the topic involved minerals and building materials.
